BMW 700 LS LUXUS

GERMANY

The BMW 700 is considered the most important car in BMW’s history. It played a crucial role in ensuring the factory’s financial stability.

Aiming at reducing costs, Italian Giovanni Michelotti based his design on the BMW 600. But by incorporating new technologies, it became the first one-piece BMW.

It was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1959, and until its production ended in 1965, it had sold 188,211 units.

The car’s name referred to a change in the engine. The old 2-cylinder, 600 cc engine block of the Isetta was replaced with a new version of 700 cc.

The LUXUS model was introduced to the market in 1962, and the LUXUS LS version was 160 mm longer. It was the last “economy” car produced by BMW, which would only return to the segment in 2002 when they produced the Mini.

It was produced under license in Argentina as the De Carlo 700 Glamor until 1964.

Our BMW 700 Luxus LS was licensed for the first time by its owner Clelia Mastrantuoni on 10/06/1964 in Campobasso and was purchased in Italy in August 2011.
